The Surf-Rock band Sun Room based out of San Diego California composed of Luke Asgian on lead vocals and guitar, Max Pinamonti on Bass, Ashton Minnich on Guitar, and Gibby on Drums is making waves in the Surf-Rock world, especially with their new single “Cadilac” off of their highly anticipated Ep Outta Their Minds.
The band was formed in 2020 and played many small venues in San Diego until they caught the attention of former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson. They then opened for his 2021 North American Tour as well as opening for the band Inhalers’ European tour in 2022.
Their sound delivers a nostalgic homage to 60’s surf rock with similarities to The Beach Boys and most recently the Beatles with their single “Cadilac”. With their mostly female fan base, many comparisons can be drawn to the Beatles from their sound to their suits. “Cadilac” has an upbeat and fun sound with almost nostalgic backup vocals that may remind listeners of the 60s band The Monkees and specifically their song “The Monkees”. In addition, the vocals and sped-up sound of the second half may remind listeners of “Baby, Please Don’t Go” by Them ft. Van Morrison.
Considering all of these similarities, Sun Room is putting a new modern twist on the Surf-Rock band scene. With previous singles from “Clementine” to “Cadilac” we see the boys can do so much with this genre and maybe even create a more modern resurgence. Sun Room is an up-and-coming band and I am so excited for their new EP Outta Their Minds as well as getting to see how far they go in the future.
def gonna give this band a listen!!
