The 2000's Pop Girl is Soooooo Back

It’s official. The 2000’s pop party girl princesses are back and new faces are in town. Step aside Britney and Paris Hilton, there’s now some competition over 24 years later.

Looking at music and fashion trends as well as our affinity for nostalgia this was bound to happen, but Charli XCX with the release of her newest album brat has taken social media by storm.

The pop club-like music and rhythm emulates that 2000’s party girl feel and mindset, influencers like Tara Yummy and Addison Rae have already begun to bring back these trends but the success of Charli’s most recent album is the cherry on top.

With my first listen to the sound and energy of the album I was instantly taken back to Paris Hilton’s quick stint as a 2000’s pop queen with the sound and energy.

With Charli exploding on the music scene from her hit song “Boom Clap” that was featured in John Green’s iconic movie The Fault in Our Stars, she’s had another rise to fame with the release of brat. The hit songs like “Apple” and “360” have been trending non-stop all summer.

Then, coupled with Addison Rae’s campy new song Diet Pepsi, compared to her release of Obsessed in 2023 that was wildly made fun of online. Has become a 2000’s emulation coupled-up with her new 2000’s rebrand has users all over social media now praising her for her “2000’s realness”.

Does this mean the 2000’s pop girl era is officially back?

I think yes, but with ever changing trends in this social media driven society it will be quick and short lived but iconic nonetheless. With the rise of “brat summer”, party girl aesthetic coming back and even my Midwest Princess Chappel Roan’s quick rise with her queer pop princess energy the early 2000’s is back and better than ever.

Personally, I am so excited for this era because hopefully this will bring back all the 2000’s trends we love as well as combining with current trends (high waisted pants will never lose their hold on me, sorry!)

Thanks so much for tuning in guys and I’ll catch you next week with a run down of my current favorite artists!
