How I Survived the Great War (The Eras Tour)

Hello. I am back. And better than ever (maybe).

Let's start off by saying oops, my bad. Yes, I’ve been gone for a long time sorry. My writing has just been sucking major recently and I don’t want to put out some mediocre shit that I’ll read after it’s posted and be embarrassed for myself. That’s so gross. Also, I’m doing a summer internship right now and just between you and I it’s awesome (I might actually be in hell currently). So, I am trying my best. Give me a break. I promise I’m back to posting regularly now so let's not worry anymore. Ok slay.

Taylor infamous countdown clock

This week our post is about the most amazing millennial that has ever lived, Taylor Swift. I would do a little introduction on her and stuff but let's be real. No one doesn’t know who Taylor Swift is. I don’t care if you listen to only classical music or only underground 90’s grunge you know who Taylor Swift is. I don’t care for HOW you know about her because that can also range from being the type of person to wear an ‘I <3 K**ye’ shirt (I’m not giving that person's name the free press even if I technically am) to the type of person who believes in Woodvale (#woodvaletruther).

Taylor during 'marjorie'

Taylor Swift is the music industry. And I fought trillions of people, bots, Ticketmaster CEO’s, and more for the chance to see her live and I won (in theory)(the only reason I got tickets was because of a second chance email otherwise I would’ve been Taylorless).

I got to see Taylor at her 13th show at Gillette Stadium (apparently her favorite stadium but no offense Taylor I don’t believe that @MetLife) with my best friend, our painstakingly time consuming but worth it outfits, a surprise song from LOVER, and Nothing New with Phoebe.

It was amazing and this post has been kinda hard to write because I still don’t know how to explain the show even though it’s been a month exactly (boo).

Me making said painstakingly time consuming outfit

Getting ready for the show was a painful task because we put everything to the last minute but it was a party till the very end. The night before was the most crucial part, it was when I decided that I wanted to bedazzle my entire corset and when we accidentally had a Taylor themed party with my brothers and moms friends (we drank prosecco, played with our cat Storm, baked, did crafts and listened to Taylor. She would’ve loved it). The outfit planning for me was a process. I decided to DIY a corset Reputation style (obviously) with pictures of all of Taylor’s eras and their colors with bedazzled jewels here and there. That’s a terrible explanation but there’s a picture below so you guys get what I’m talking about. Tbh, this craft is my pride and joy. I’m still impressed with myself. While Gianna and I stayed up till 3 am the night before our show to finish our outfits we also baked the Blank Space cake, put tinsel in our hair, painted our nails, and made friendship bracelets.

The 'Blank Space' cake, some of the friendship bracelets I made, a 3 am .5, and Gianna's holy trinity 'Mess it Up' hat.

Now I’m going to preface that my explanation of the show is going to be short. It honestly was all a blur and I still can’t figure out how we even got tickets. Before getting that second chance email we tried 30+ times for tickets with millions of radio show contests. I got to the point of making my entire suite at school sit in my room and call in to try for tickets then it got so bad that my roommate and I drove around in my car for hours since apparently a car radio is more accurate than the radio apps and called in to a bunch of stations. We didn’t win any. So the fact that I even went is still a miracle.

But the show was amazing. Taylor is a real life Barbie doll Disney Princess combo. That was the first thing I realized about her. I had never seen her in person but she just has this energy that like casts a spell on you or something. She has a magnetic energy. She doesn’t just put on a show she PERFORMS a show. It’s a whole musical number three hours straight and I loved every second of it. The only thing I was disappointed with was myself. I’m mad that I got way too many spoilers on Tik Tok of everything so I did know what was gonna happen next and stuff but that’s my own fault. Also, having floor seats is not the way to go unless you’re in rows 1-4. Even Though I’m tall I was still struggling with seeing her on stage and did have to watch the screens, we didn’t want floor seats going into it but how it worked with the second chance was they just gave you whatever seats they had in the price range you selected and we ended up with floor seats. It was a super cool experience getting the confetti and seeing the lights and stuff from below but I wouldn’t voluntarily do it again.

Us during Phoebe's set

The openers we had were Gracie Abrahms and Phoebe Bridgers. The friend who went with me is the BIGGEST Gracie fan I know so getting to see her for the first time in a stadium was INSANE. Both of their sets were great, the crowd wasn’t THAT great but everyone in our section was at least paying attention and being respectful during their sets.

I am so impressed by Taylor and her entire team for being able to put on these 3 hour long shows 3 days in a row each week, it really is fan service. Also, the addition of surprise songs. AMAZING idea. The songs we got were from Lover and Red. Lover is one of my favorite Taylor albums so getting the chance to hear I Think He Knows LIVE when it’s never been played live before because rip Lover Fest was mind blowing to me. I cried the whole time. Then, our second surprise song which was also on the guitar because her piano was ‘haunted’ was Red. Now her playing us with the piano being haunted was down right disrespectful. She knew how much I NEEDED Haunted as a surprise song and she just teased me like that.

My backwards 13 hand featuring friendship bracelets and eras nails

Overall the show exceeded my expectations and as she has just announced international dates yesterday I will be going to her London shows because she will NOT be playing London Boy without me there.

Rep and Lover fit slays! (we will be bringing these back for the UK, trust)

Thank you for reading everyone and I hope all of you can one day go to a Taylor Swift show because it really is a magical experience. Also, we have our small artist spotlight post this Friday at 12 pm EST so be on the lookout for that!
